Been reading your forum, but I don't join in because I am not a good writer or speaker. I do find your comments refreshing because most Reformed Christians I find are so proud of their traditions that they consider them as righteous unassailable dogma, and themselves as the only defenders of orthodoxy. Your departure from stuff shirted traditions like double Predestination and exclusive psalmody is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for this Reformed resource.

What I like about Christianity is grace. It is a religion not based on works and in that way it is different from every religion I know of in the world. Grace is beautiful, isn't it. God bless.

Thanking God for the beautiful oasis for the gospel that you have built to the glory of the Lord. Finally I am beginning to understand eschatology the way God intended. I am so blessed to read the truth of the kingdom preached in a plain, down to earth fashion to the glory of God and not the authors, as it seems so many are. Looking forward to getting into the the sermons section next. Thanks again.

Just read your reply to the anti-reformed person and I couldn't agree more. The robots are the slaves to sin who can't do anything to gain God's favor. Love your site.

I've visited this site for more years than I care to remember and have always enjoyed the reader board messages. Reformed theology gets a bad rap, but you are to be congratulated for sticking with the truth that so many other pastors, ministries and churches have fallen away from. Thank you for the inspiration.

I'm going to start a blog and write against Reformed Theology and Predestination. Thanks for inspiring me to do so as I will never believe that we are robots chosen without any effort of our own.

That's the very definition of a works gospel. The word declares that if at all by works, it is no more by grace. Actually, in Reformed Theology we understand the unadulterated truth that it is only without the Lord's sovereign grace that we are "robots," because without His free (no works by us required) gift we are slaves to our nature of sin. How free is a slave? It is only in God's sovereign, unworked for, unmerited, favor that we are set free from this servitude to sin.

John 8:34-36

  • "Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

  • And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

  • If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Slaves cannot choose not to be slaves, they must be set free of their masters (Satan sets no one free willingly), or by a deliverer. If God's sovereignty is not debatable, then He is the chooser, not the chosen (John 15:19; 2nd Thessalonians 2:13; 1st Peter 2:9), and the slaves are the ones who have not been sovereignly chosen of God and delivered. As robots controlled of their master, they can do nothing to deliver themselves, and so all remain in bondage to sin. The fact is, if God's sovereign election were not true, we would all be left as slaves, dead in trespass and sin, and there would be no point to evangelism.

We can thank God that we have been given the privilege to be able to ask "sovereign" God to set us free, not to command Him to do it. Robots are slaves controlled by their bondmaster and won't ask, or if they ask they will ask amiss (James 4:3) or improperly because of the lusts and desires of their sin nature. The unpalatable truth is, if salvation depended upon our good nature to come to Christ on our own, then none (John 6:44) of us would be saved.

I have been stirred to do more for the Gospel through your preaching Mr Warren. This web site is one of the best I have seen, not in flash and esthetics, but in biblical doctrines, studies and content.

Thank you

An outstanding resource site. Just what we have been looking for. The quality of this site speaks (or should I say preaches) for itself. To be able to read the sermons of my old and late pastor is such a blessing. Onward Christian Soldiers. We are certainly at war to save the elect from the four quarters of the earth.
