I would like to offer comments the exact opposite of the last post. Far from being old fashioned and what is driving people away from the church, your adherence to traditional and sound Christian values and doctrines are the last vestige of a once great church and once faithful ministers. It is a blessing to read and listen to the uncorrupted articles and traditional sermons here. May God bless you sir for your standing tall in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation.

Just read your article on the significance of the floating axe head and Elisha. I must say that I don't agree with your conclusions that it symbolized the work of Christ in removing our debt. It's just too convenient for me. Also, your doctrines seem way too strict and old fashioned, and in many other ways obsolete. Christians today need more tolerance, not less. Old fashioned religion is what's driving people away from the church.

I an mot impressed with your unbending teachings. You call yourself Reformed? The Reformed view allows for divorce in certain instances and you think you know what's biblical better than the faithful stewards of the Reformed Church? Shame on you. The Westminster Confession of faith allows for Divorce.
Here's what it says:
"V. Adultery or fornication, committed after a contract, being detected before marriage, giveth just occasion to the innocent party to dissolve that contract. In the case of adultery after marriage, it is lawful for the innocent party to sue out a divorce, and after the divorce to marry another, as if the offending party were dead."

You have no sympathy for those of us who have been cheated on, but are allowed to divorce as if the offending party is dead. Fornication makes the wife dead to us. Proof we can divorce.

I providentially stumbled upon this Mountain Retreat website and found your forum which has been a great blessing to me ever since. It's great to know someone else understands authority of scripture and that unbelief is a matter of the heart. Thank you all for emphasizing all these most neglected truths.

I don’t agree with reformed theology because I have witnessed far too much abuse and authoritarianism within these churches. But even so, I must say I find your explanations and articles hard to argue against theologically, as they seem very sound, well thought out and always interesting. Are you sure you are of the reformed persuasion as there is far too much grace and concern in your philosophy to be reformed. I’m just not convinced that the problem is so much a rejection of truth as it is the lofty noses of the reformed.

Been reading your forum, but I don't join in because I am not a good writer or speaker. I do find your comments refreshing because most Reformed Christians I find are so proud of their traditions that they consider them as righteous unassailable dogma, and themselves as the only defenders of orthodoxy. Your departure from stuff shirted traditions like double Predestination and exclusive psalmody is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for this Reformed resource.

What I like about Christianity is grace. It is a religion not based on works and in that way it is different from every religion I know of in the world. Grace is beautiful, isn't it. God bless.
