Moonbeams, God's purpose for the Church

by Rev. Stephen A. Horne, Sr.

Genesis 1:1-5

Romans 1:20 "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" KJV

John 1:6-14" 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name [was] John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all [men] through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but [was sent] to bear witness of that Light. 9 [That] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." KJV

Matthew 5:14;" Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." KJV

In everything God did there is great significance. No action was wasted. Nothing was unplanned or haphazard. Each step of creation was devinely ordered by a devine God. Everything was brought forth from nothing. We have the benefit of this great creation and are a part of it.

From the beginning when there was nothing but God Himself, would spring up life as we know it.

Romans tells us that within creation God planted or planned a model to display what could not be seen of Himself. His very nature, power and Godhead are reflected within creation. What could not be seen or understand about God, we can see and understand through His creation. Creation itself gives us an example of God and His plan and purpose. His Godhead and even the purpose for His Church.

In the first day of Creation we find God's expression of Himself as Spirit, Himself as God Incarnate and the plan and purpose of the Church.

It's important to understand that Darkness was not created. Darkness is simply the absence of light. You do not make darkness. You make light to hold the darkness at bay. Darkness just was...

The very first thing that God did was create light. This is the most awesome of all creations. Light was created before a visible source of light was made! God spoke it and there it was, no visible source. You could not point to anything and say "that is where the light is coming from". IT JUST WAS!...

Science has been able to break down "white light" as it is called (the natural light) into a spectrum of seven different colors. All of these different colors together make pure light.

Revelation 3:1 "And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God," KJV

Isaiah 11:1 "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;" KJV

LIGHT IS THE EXAMPLE OF ALMIGHT GOD HIMSELF!!!!

It was not until the FOURTH day that God created the lights in the heavens. For three days light exhisted with no visible source. Finally two main sources of light were created. The Greater Light to rule the day and the Lesser Light to rule the night. It was not until now that we had a visible source for what already was...

The Sun became the Greater Light. It had the ability to cast light itself. It WAS light.

In John we read that Jesus Christ was the Light...he was the visible example of the invisible God. He was the greater light that would rule the day. In a spiritual since that time has not come yet. There will be a time when the Lamb of God will rule, but for now the lesser light must shine.

THE SUN IS THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS CHRIST!!!!

In the Jewish calendar it is no mistake that the new day starts at the setting of the sun. The day always starts with the lesser light of the Moon and ends with the greater light of the Sun.

The Moon is the lesser light. It has no light of it's own, it gets it's light from the sun and reflects it back to the Earth. It has no choice wether to shine or not. It just does. It has no control over the light. Whatever light is shone upon it is shared with the darkened world. Recent trips to the moon have confirmed that it is made up of the same material as the earth. In it's basic composition, it is no different. The Moon, however, was set apart for a special purpose...to be a light to the world until the time of the rising of the sun.

So it is with the Church. We shine light in a darkened world. It is for this purpose that the Church was created, to reflect the Light of God.

THE MOON IS THE EXAMPLE OF THE CHURCH!!!!
