In What Year Was Christ Born?
« on: June 04, 2018, 11:53:37 AM »

I read a post here the other day claiming Christ was born in BC 7.  I have read on other forums that he was born in BC 6 or BC 2. Now I'm thoroughly confused. What's the general agreement here on what year Christ was born? Thanks in advance.

While this is a topic that is often debated and disagreed on by scholars, the majority of New Testament scholars place Jesusí birth in 4 B.C.

Then why is 4 B.C. widely accepted as the year of Christ's birth?

Do you believe everything that is widely accepted?  Roman Catholicism? Evolution from Monkeys?  Free Will? Dispensationalism? Donald Trump's lies?

I don't agree with any of you. The early church historians Tertullian, Origen, and Eusibius all held that Christ was born in 2 B.C. and that Herod died the following year in 1 B.C.

The census in 8 B.C. occurred way to early in history to be considered the same Biblical census in which Joseph and Mary were registered.

What year did you think Jesus died, then?
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

It isnít the year that is important. It is the fact that He was born that is.

I believe Christ died in 33 AD

I think so too from what I've read over the years.

King Herod died in 4 B.C. so how could Christ be born in 4 B.C.?
