Does anyone know the point or spiritual signification of this story? Why did Elisha went to great lengths to return a borrowed item?

Open Forum / That miracle of Divine grace wrought in the soul
« Last post by Puritan Heart on Today at 02:14:42 AM »
Greetings all,

Another Jewel from Grace Gems http://www.gracegems.org

That miracle of Divine grace wrought in the soul

(Arthur Pink)

Regeneration is that miracle of Divine grace wrought in the soul . . .
  which enlists the affections Godward,
which brings the human will into subjection to the Divine,
and which produces a real and radical change in the life.
That change is from worldliness--to godliness; from disobedience--to obedience.

At the new birth, the love of God is shed abroad in the heart by the Holy Spirit, and that love is manifested in a dominating longing and sincere purpose to please in all things, the One who has plucked me as a brand from the burning. There is a greater difference between the genuine Christian and the deceived professing Christian--than there is between a living man and a corpse. None need remain in doubt, if they will honestly measure themselves by the Holy Word of God.

Ah, dear readers, the test is fruit! Not knowledge, not boastings, not orthodoxy, not joy--but fruit; and such "fruit" as mere nature cannot produce. It is the fruit of the Vine--namely, likeness to Christ, being conformed to His image. May the Holy Spirit search each one of us.

PS. Emphasis, my own.

Theology / Re: Is Selling Christian Books Wrong?

Quote from: George
No one is selling the gospel, they are selling their own works, CDs or books to try and make ends meet. As long as they are not selling something sinful, I see nothing wrong with it. A workman is worthy of his hire. 1 Timothy 5:18

Yes they do.  Actually, they are selling their own Gospel by taking the Scripture and twist it before write about it into books, DVD's, Twitter, YouTube, etc. as if they are selling their works for money or power of influence.  Yes this is sin!

Mat 21:12
[12]  And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

Jesus targeted the money changers that sell doves for a reason. Do you even know what the doves they are selling in the temple represent in Scripture that the false prophets use it for economic dealings with the spiritual poor?

Catching up today on some of the old replies to my posts I see that they are not met with any legitimate response, but with foolishness. Your reply to a serious question is that I should have a V8? Come on people, you can do better than that.

I realize that this was a while ago George, but that's not all people had to say. They actually provided you with scriptures detailing the many reasons why they believe it is wrong to sell the gospel. All those posts you have ignored to concentrate on a V8. No pun intended.

Israel cannot be saved by still rejecting Christ, cannot be the kingdom, cannot be the children of God or the election.

As I'm sure you know Tony, Israel rejected God before and God punished them, but still saved them.

I have provided scripture, and I'll be happy to provide more. The nation of Israel's very existence is tied to the promises of God. To deny that is to deny reality. The Jews were elected by God a chosen people, unconditionally. He made a promise to bless them.

Genesis 12:1-3
"And Jehovah had said to Abram, Go out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, to the land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed". DT

That's why Israel is a nation today.

Hello again George,

Thank you for this scripture.

Might I ask if this is the only scripture upon which you base your entire doctrine ??

Alexandra

Of course not, but you asked for a scripture and I gave it to you. So if you think this doesn't say what it says, then please offer me your explanation. I'll be happy to give you other scriptures if you can address this one. But for me to just post a bunch of scriptures without explanation will not help much.
Thanks.
