That's just bad manners.

To me, bad Christian manners is bad behavior, bad conduct, bad protocol, bad authority and bad stewards.  It's not calling a fact, a fact, and it's not saying God declares homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. That's not bad manners, that the gospel truth received by the Spirit of truth. ...or not!

That's bad manners and that's bad Churching. You don't condemn the sinner so you can exalt yourself.

“Who am I to judge?”

Those five words, spoken by Pope Francis in July 2013 in reference to gay Catholics, were a watershed moment for the church. This was a stark contrast to the tone set by his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, who instead referred to the “intrinsic moral evil” and “objective disorder” of “same-sex attraction.”

False righteousness comes in many forms in the church, both liberal and conservative. I know many would disagree because today it happens to be a politically inconvenient truth, but one is just as bad as the other. I don't thibnk a liberal Christian that thinks he's right in supporting envy, homosexuality or immorality is any more sinful than a conservative Christian that believes he's right in practicing racism, adultery or idolatry. They are both equally sinful and both equally indulging in their own brand of false righteousness. So they are both moving towards the same destination, though they are taking diferent roads. I don't see one bit of difference between these Christians in their apostasy. Pat Robinson on the right is just as self righteous as Marilynne Robinson on the left.

The point I am making is this. When sinful man is the judge, false righteousness in the church depends upon who you are asking about it. But with God it is seen on all sides because God has no political agenda. He judges righteously.

Psalms 96:11-13
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth."

The topic of false righteousness is one that should hit home becauyse there is enough of it to go around. Narcissism is false righteousness. Pride is false righteousness. Free will is false righteousness. Envy is false righteousness. Vengeance is false righteousness. Racism is false righteousness. Political tribalism is false righteousness. Zionism is false righteousness. And on and one down the line. It is this false righteousness that leads the church into apostasy because it thinks it knows better than God what is the right thing to do. So the authority of the bible is abandoned for one's own opinions.

I believe that false righteousness is the reason for much of the apostasy in the church, the vain exaltation of the nation of Israel, the current direction of the country in the rise of Totalitarianism, and the apathy of Christians regarding real righteousness. The same reason most righteous Christian churches and forums have ceased to exist. Righteousness doesn't seem to matter anymore, it's all about tribalism and what side of the political fence you are on.

The Apostasy is real. The sense of false righteousness is real. The hypocrisy is real.

Matt. 5:20
"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven".

The political and evangelistic righteousness that I see passing for Christ's righteousness does not.
